About Us

Todd and Casey Brewer are a father-daughter creative duo reigning from the Louisville area. They create abstract art in the form of acrylic pours and their work has been featured in a number of art shows and charity events.

Casey Brewer

Owner / Painter / Parrot Whisperer / Plantophile

Casey Brewer is a fellow artist at Creative Carnival in Southern Indiana. She creates abstract artworks along with her dad, and and is attending Indiana University Southeast as an Elementary Education major with a concentration in Art. Her works are mostly acrylic pours because she finds the process exciting and fun. Casey draws inspiration from nature, trees, flowers.

Todd Brewer

Owner / Dad / Painter / Dog Lover

Todd Brewer is the other half of Creative Carnival. He works as a graphic designer in the Louisville, KY area. His work is inspired primarily by emotions and the subconscious, trying to capture feeling on canvas through the use of texture and color with a palette knife, expressive brush strokes and other tools.

The Process

Casey's process usually starts by standing in the paint aisle matching colors together. She is usually inspired by things around her. If she meets another artist, or sees something cool out in nature she takes the colors or something from the conversation that matches a color to her. She enjoys doing the acrylic pours because of how unpredictable it is, honoring the element of chance from past Art movements Like Dadaism, Surrealism, and the Abstract Expressionists.

 

For Todd, the process is much more eclectic. An idea or picture will come to mind, and he will sometimes make a rough sketch before the vision is lost to revisit it later in front of a canvas. Often times, the entire process is spontaneous. An emotion that needs to get out, an expression that can't be kept inside. Colors and technique will often be decided "on the fly" as whatever is in Todd's mind will themselves onto the canvas and take on a life and story of their own.
